Exploring Beaver Habitat
Exploring Beaver Ecology
Saturday, October 12, 4:00-6:30pm
Join Pat Serrentino and Ted Watt, local naturalists, for a late afternoon/evening exploration at an active beaver site in Satan's Kingdom Wildlife Management Area in Northfield. We will walk a short distance into the natural area, and learn about beaver behaviors and the fascinating anatomy that enables them to achieve the engineering wonders for which they are renowned. We’ll explore their working areas plus dams and lodges. And, we’ll hope to view some beavers at work in the gathering dusk, then walk a short distance back to our vehicles.
This free walk is geared to adults and children over 8 yrs, limited to 12 people and is sponsored by Greening Greenfield.
Please come prepared to fend off ticks and mosquitoes, bring binoculars and wear sturdy shoes. Heavy rain cancels.
We will carpool from the Cherry Run parking lot in Greenfield at 3:30 pm, drive together to Satan's Kingdom and arrive back in Greenfield around 7:00pm.
Registration opens Monday, October 7, 2019.
