New $10,000 HEAT PUMP INCENTIVES FROM Mass Save WORKSHOP

MONDAY, APRIL 3, 6:30 PM AT THE SECOND CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

16 Court Square,  Greenfield, MA  01301

GREENFIELD, MA – Have you been wanting to upgrade your heating system to a modern electric heat pump aka Mini-split but felt it was too expensive? If yes, now is the time to learn about Mass Save’s new offer of $10,000, plus a 0% loan for the remainder of the cost!

Greening Greenfield has invited two households to share their experience with Mass Save on Monday, April 3, at 6:30 pm at the Second Congregational Church, 16 Court Square, Greenfield MA. They will be talking about the programs that are available for everyone who is NOT eligible for Mass Save’s income-eligible program.

Both households are concerned about the climate crisis and wanted to stop using fossil fuels. How they worked with Mass Save, however, was completely different.

Judy Draper and Wisty Rorabacher heat with natural gas, and have worked with Mass Save at least 3 times to weatherize their home since they moved to Greenfield and bought a home16 years ago. They worked closely with Mass Save. As for Travis Drury and Sarah Brown-Anson, installing a heat pump system was part of a larger renovation project when they moved into a new oil-heated home in Greenfield three years ago. Travis acted as the general contractor, and pulled in Mass Save when financially advantageous.

We were scared of doing this,” said Wisty Rorabacher. “We knew that we would not save money because we use natural gas which is inexpensive, but we did not know if it would work. It was installed just before the January cold snap. It worked great! We love it!”

As for Drury and Brown-Anson, they are also thrilled with their new heating system. “In addition to wanting to get off fossil fuels, I was also interested in improving the air quality in our home for health reasons,” said Sarah Anson-Brown. “It was so great to get rid of the smell of oil from the tank in our basement. We also worked on reducing the damp smell that permeated the house when we first moved in.”

I have learned so much from Wisty, Judy, Travis, and Sarah,” said Nancy Hazard, Greening Greenfield organizer of the event. “There are so many different ways to work with Mass Save and take advantage of their incentives. I have learned that It takes time and perseverance, but everyone agrees that the financial support Mass Save is offering is well worth the effort, to gain increased comfort including air conditioning, health benefits, reduced heating costs for oil and propane users, and peace of mind.”
