2. Use the New England Carbon Calculator to fine tune your plan.

To use the New England Carbon calculator′s Personal Energy Planner, you will need to do some homework. Gather your electric and heating bills in one place and figure out how much money you spent last year on heat and electricity. You are now ready to find out how much you can save! At the bottom of the home page, you will find the Calculator, and then you can choose the Personal Energy Planner. This will walk you through the process of identifying which actions are best suited to your household. It only takes about 10 minutes. You will be surprised at the opportunities for savings!

When we use energy from fossil fuels – such as gasoline, heating oil and electricity generated by burning coal or natural gas – our personal energy use causes CO2 to be emitted into the atmosphere. The Carbon Calculator will also tell you how many pounds of CO2 you can save by taking certain actions.. The Calculator keeps a tally of your actual and intentional reduction of emissions and sends them to us so we can know how many pounds of CO2 we as residents are pledging to reduce.

Now here’s our Challenge for you!! The home page of the New Hampshire Carbon Challenge lists the towns that have taken the challenge. The towns are listed in the order of who has the most households involved. Please helpn us get Greenfield on to this list by using this Calculator!
