John Olver Transit Center
From our Transit Center, located downtown at 12 Olive Street in Greenfield, you can catch
- an Amtrak train, purchase tickets online in advance;
- a Greyhound bus, purchase tickets on line in advance. (Peter Pan no longer operates out of the Transit Center) or
- our local FRTA buses.
Local Bus Service
In spring 2025 Michael Perreault, Employment Transportation Coordinator for the Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA), did a presentation to the Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee (SGIC) about all the different programs they offer, including:
- Fixed routes;
- Demand response;
- MassHealth Transportation (“PT-1 Transportation”);
- Med-Ride (volunteer driver program);
- FRTA Access Program; and
- Persons with Disabilities, ADA Paratransit Services.
Many of us can ride for free!

Their website can be a challenge to navigate, but we encourage you to check it out, get their app, or call their Travel Ambassador (currently Elizabeth Quirk), at 413-774-2262, Ext. 108.

Another option is Google Maps (https://www.google.com/maps/)
- Put in your desired destination;
- Choose “Directions”;
- Put in your starting location;
- Go to Options
- Switch to Transit Icon at the top of the screen (usually it defaults to “Driving”);
- Adjust “Leave now” and any other Options.
