Greening Greenfield’s free 2025 Energy Fair was held Monday, Nov 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the John Zon Community Center. After free pizza, attendees learned about currently available programs and incentives that can help people of all income levels with making energy-efficient building upgrades and save money, as well as install solar, or find an electric vehicle and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.
“I want everyone to be comfortable, both winter and summer, and for that to not cost an arm and a leg,” said Nancy Hazard, Greening Greenfield member. “Weatherizing your home and updating to a heat pump will not only achieve that goal, but also benefit our planet.”
After a brief introduction from Ted Harvey of the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG), co-sponsor of the event, each vendor introduced themselves and explained what they offer. Attendees then were invited to chat with the vendors that fit their income level and interest.
Community Action Pioneer Valley, the Center for EcoTechnology, Mass Save contractors, and companies that offer heat pumps, solar installations, and co-sponsor Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee, were on hand to answer questions. There was also information about current rebates and incentives being offered, and ones that might be expiring soon.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for residents to talk directly with vendors to get a better understanding of what is possible regarding energy efficiency and potential cost savings,” said Ted Harvey, senior planner with the Franklin Regional Council of Governments.
