Greenfield Public Library Planting Prep Workday
Sunday, June 14, 2026, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Join Greening Greenfield and Youth Climate Action Franklin County in transforming the GPL Parking lot to a haven for pollinators, butterflies, and birds to prepare the area under the trees on the west for planting next spring.
When the library was built, a group of residents worked with the landscape designer with the goal of building native habitat. But when it came to the parking lot, funds only covered the trees.
Greening Greenfield is now moving forward the original dream thanks to an anonymous donation designated for landscaping to the Greenfield Public Library Foundation and the support of the City of Greenfield.
“We envision a rich landscape that celebrates the beauty of the plants that have grown here for millennia, which will support birds, the full lifecycle of insects such as bees, moths, and butterflies, and build healthy soil, where rain water can sink in instead of running down the storm drain,” says Nancy Hazard of Greening Greenfield.
