Dear Community Members,
Greening Greenfield invites you to a gathering of people interested in, or working on, topics that could be described by the word, “sustainability”. We define sustainability as the overlap of the three ideals of environmental quality, economic vitality, and social equity. This networking and brainstorming event is focused on:
- connecting individuals and organizations who share these interests but are not necessarily already working together;
- identifying gaps that would benefit from having individuals or organizations take on a new project or focus;
- identifying action items that would make Greenfield a more livable community. This could include smaller projects with a defined end-point (could be as simple as, “We need a new bench here”), as well as larger projects;
- determining if there is interest in someone hosting future gatherings like this (quarterly? annually?).
While supporting activism that promotes the continuance of democracy, we recognize that we also need to continue work on the environment and making Greenfield a more livable community. And we need to keep the scope of this meeting manageable. Therefore, while meriting attention and also being priorities for many of us, this gathering is not intended for discussion of:
- Politics — partisan or otherwise;
- Palestine, Iran, or other international issues;
- Larger regional issues, except as they relate back to Greenfield;
- The specific topics of housing or food, as we feel that there are already networking groups on those topics, though related issues may come up.
Please join us on Sunday, October 25th from 2:00 – 4:00pm at the Grange , 401 Chapman St, Greenfield for this opportunity to meet potential collaborators, get inspired or inspire others, and create ways to bring about positive change together. RSVP info below.
In preparation for the meeting, we ask that you give some thought to a few things in advance:
- Do you have any friends, colleagues, or especially anyone relatively new to the area, whom you think might be interested in joining this conversation? If so, invite them.
- Are there things that would make Greenfield more sustainable that are not being worked on?
- Are there projects where you could use some particular help, either existing projects or ones you hope will happen?
- What skills or time might you be able to offer to someone else?
